Mr. Gary Kelly provides motivational remarks to the crowd assembled in Grace Peterson Hall Aug. 12 at the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center on the Fort Dix section of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. Mr. Kelly, chief executive officer of SouthWest Airlines, was the fourth speaker in a series of professional development events helping the Center celebrate its 15th Anniversary. Mr. Kelly said employees have to come first because they are responsible for the company’s success. “We expect our leaders to spend the majority of their time and efforts making sure our employees have their support; that they have the tools that they need to succeed at Southwest,” Mr. Kelly said. “We think that by focusing on the needs of our employees, and making sure that they’re met, we’re creating an environment of trust, we’re creating an environment of respect that we hope will be passed on to the customer.” (U.S. Air Force Photo/Staff Sgt.
