Commander thanks 'Eagles' for 'great visit' with CMSAF Published Feb. 18, 2009 By Maj. Gen. Kip Self U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center Commander FORT DIX, N.J. -- Eagles, you nailed another victory in "selling" the Center to Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley. Although we've batted "1.000" when a distinguished visitor puts "boots on the ground," it's still each of you that turns the tide on a visit. Last Tuesday (Feb. 10) was no different. I haven't had a better day since becoming the EC commander. An early morning orientation with our senior enlisted man, Public Affairs interviews that showcase your capabilities, tours of you preparing Airmen from all Air Force specialties, noted artists delivering a portrait of some of our Eagles who represent our team, and yes a STEP promotion for one our finest. I believe we got it about perfect. Many thanks to the PA and protocol staff for all their work behind and in front of the scenes. My special appreciation goes to Chief Master Sgt. (Fitzgerald) Hentz who steered this event with a steady hand and a very professional touch. All the schools put their best out front and they delivered. What sells the EC, and CMSAF McKinley confirmed, is our attitude, expertise and dedication. Attitude IS everything and its working to make the EC recognized as the Center of Excellence for advanced Expeditionary Combat Support training. Expertise is our credibility and the Chief was impressed by our instructors' accreditation by the Community College of the Air Force, and because of that, students earn college credit for graduating our courses. He also saw first hand your dedication to our mission to train and educate all who pass through the EC halls and ranges. This note comes from heart and with my utmost pride in watching you deliver the finest Expeditionary Airmen this country or any other has ever seen. Very Respectfully, Eagle 1 "Even though you see slides and hear stories, you can't get a real taste of a place without 'boots on the ground' and meeting Airmen. I leave the Expeditionary Center totally educated and impressed with the leadership at all levels and the quality of instruction that our Airmen are getting."
