Approximately 70 Airmen from Aerial Port squadrons at Travis Air Force Base, California, organized and participated in a Port Dawg 5K run May 12 at the Pena Adobe Park in Vacaville, California..

For the third consecutive year, the aerial porters gathered for an event that goes beyond squadron divisions and spans the entire Air Force to honor fallen members of Aerial Port Squadrons around the world.

"Annually during National Transportation Week, members of the world-wide Aerial Port community band together to remember our Fallen Port Dawgs," said Tech. Sgt. Matthew Lumm, 60th Aerial Port Squadron aerial porter .  "It is our way of honoring their selfless dedication to something greater than themselves. This year, we solemnly gathered to honor eight of our fallen Port Dawgs."

Travis AFB has three wings with aerial port squadrons supporting air mobility cargo airflow throughout the world in C-17 Globemaster III and C-5 Galaxy aircraft.

"This was a great chance to not only unite the Port Dawgs across the various units on base, but also a way to let them know that as a community, we will always be there for support," said Tech. Sgt. Jestin Keesee, 571st Global Mobility Squadron, aerial porter .  "Our Port Dawg bond is unwavering in our commitment to our Nation and to each other."

The run was organized by the 571st Global Mobility Squadron aerial porters which is part of the 571st Contingency Response Group and 621st Contingency Response Wing.

The 571st Global Mobility Squadron provide the core cadre of expeditionary command and control, airlift and air refueling operations, aerial port, and aircraft maintenance personnel for deployment worldwide as mobility control teams and airfield assessment teams. These teams rapidly survey, assess and establish contingency air base lodgments and expand existing AMC support infrastructure worldwide.
