521st Air Mobility Operations Wing

The 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing is assigned to the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, Air Mobility Command, with headquarters at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Mission
The 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing safely expedites maximum war-fighting and humanitarian effects for America through rapid and precise global air mobility in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Organization
The 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing consists of over 2,700 personnel divided into two groups and 12 squadrons, with 14 geographically separated units located across 24 sites in 16 countries. The wing provides all command and control, en route maintenance support, and air transportation services for theater and strategic air mobility missions in Europe and Southwest Asia.

The 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing command and control teams execute global command and control for AMC transient aircraft and flight following for AMC missions and also coordinate ground support requirements, OPREP-3 reporting and aircrew support. Additionally the specialized maintenance personnel provide en route maintenance support through Aircraft Maintenance Units, Maintenance Operations Centers, Quality Assurance, Regional Training Center, fuel cell, Aerospace Ground Equipment, Forward Supply Location, and Maintenance Recovery Teams. Lastly, the wing air transportation professionals operate Air Terminal Operations Centers, providing passenger and fleet services, cargo processing, special handling, ramp services, load planning and data records.

The 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing has about 1,800 permanent party authorized and supports a sizable deployed contingent augmenting two Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadrons and the Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron which provides Aeromedical Evacuation and Mission Support through Stage, Intel, Tactics, Aircrew Flight Equipment, Flying Crew Chiefs and Ravens.

Achievements and Honors
The honors of the 555th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion are bestowed upon the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing. This includes the service streamer for World War II: American Theater, as well as World War II campaign streamers for Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe and Rhineland. In addition to these bestowed honors, the wing earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award: 1 Oct 08-30 Sep 09. The emblem for the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing was approved on 3 December 2008.
