Major General DARREN R. COLE

Maj. Gen. Darren R. Cole is the Commander, Twenty-First Air Force – U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. The Twenty-First Air Force and U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center are the preeminent authority for expeditionary operations and support Air Mobility Command’s worldwide mission of providing Rapid Global Mobility to America’s armed forces. With more than 23,000 Airmen, the Twenty-First Air Force and U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center are comprised of the Air Force Expeditionary School, nine AMC wings and one stand-alone group. These units span the globe in 38 locations across 15 countries, providing global air mobility support, airlift, air refueling and contingency response as well as building partnership capacity.

Maj. Gen. Cole earned his commission in 1992 through the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Illinois. He has commanded at the detachment, squadron, group, and wing levels and served in various positions within the Air Staff and combatant commands. He is a command pilot with more than 4,900 flying hours in the C-141, T-1, C-17, KC-10 and KC-46 including combat missions in operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Resolute Support, and Inherent Resolve. Prior to his current position, Maj. Gen. Cole served as the Director of Operations, Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois..

Maj. Gen. Cole’s joint assignments include Executive Officer to the Commander U.S. Southern Command, Commander of the 438th Air Expeditionary Advisory Group, Kabul Afghanistan, and Director, U.S. Central Command Deployment and Distribution Operations Center and Deputy Director for Operations, USCENTCOM Logistics and Engineering Directorate, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
